Karl Lagerfeld: “fat mummies” say “thin models are ugly”

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has kicked up a fuss in the industry, saying that “skinny models” are what the people want.
The outrageous German fashion designer made the comments in reaction to Brigette magazine entering into the size-zero debate by stating it will no longer use professional models in their photo shoots, instead choosing “ordinary, realistic” women. It appears Lagerfeld finds this notion somewhat preposterous: “No one wants to see curvy women. These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly”, he was quoted as saying in Focus magazine. This from a man who who has quite publicly had his own weight problems in the past. Perhaps he’s a little bitter that he’s had to skip chocolate cake ever since going on a low-carb diet a few years ago!
He continued that fashion was all about “dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women”. In some respects I do agree; clothes look better on a tall, slim frame and I long for the day when size 10, healthy models, like the supermodels of the late 80s early 90s are fashionable again. I do not however, agree on size 0 waifs that make Kate Moss look chunky, trotting down the runway (and I am not a fat mummy!!!).
Lagerfeld’s views are in stark contrast to those of Mark Fast whose show at London Fashion Week featured plus size (that’s size 14 to you and I) models and who has recently vowed to ‘go supersize’ again. Fast didn’t understand the furore around his show: “I didn’t think it would get so much attention. I just thought, ‘They’re beautiful. Let’s do it. Let’s have fun.’”

hahahaha hilarious the crazy old fool lagerfield! he has a bit of a point but its health experts saying this too not just fat mummies. i dont like the way fat people look but size 14 aint fat…..unless you’re janice dickinson
