Lindsay Lohan shocks Paris Fashion Week

I really don’t like to kick a girl when she’s down, but Lindsay Lohan what have you done!!!! She’s currently the laughing stock of Paris Fashion Week and I can not find any redeeming qualities in the Spring 2010 Emmanuel Ungaro collection, which Lindsey was “Creative Director” for.
It was so wrong, I don’t even know where to start. Lindsay was brought on board to inject some youth and energy to the fashion house, but this collection was wide off of the mark. Estrella Archs, as chief designer she should have known better and maybe fought her corner harder, she has been quoted as saying that the collection had to be put together quickly. Even the models looked embarrassed on the runway.
If you think I am being harsh, Women’s Wear Daily has been brutal “no one ever said fashion design is brain surgery. It’s a different discipline altogether. But it is indeed a discipline and a commercial art, a fact variously muted and underscored by the celebrity infiltration of the last decade. And like brain surgery — yes, like brain surgery and all disciplines at which people work for years to develop proficiency — it has its rare geniuses and capable practitioners, all of whom must possess talent, skill and dedication. Being a young, pretty, controversial woman who looks good in clothes and photo ops just isn’t enough.”
I hope this teaches Ungaro a valuable lesson – get rid of cheap marketing ploys (and Lindsay Lohan) as they just bring more attention to the troubled label and let Estrella Archs do her job without an unskilled celebrity putting her two cents in. I would like to see if this is a blip in Estrella’s career and whether she can pull off a better Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. I have my fingers crossed for her.
