Look out for Mia Wasikowska in 2010

She’s been quietly making a name for herself in the last few years, but is likely to be a major hit with the film and fashion industry alike when she appears in Tim burton’s Alice in Wonderland next Spring.

Mia Wasikowska – the ballet dancer turned actress – first appeared on our screens in In Treatment, the much aclaimed series starring Gabriel Byrne, playing a young gymnast whose world had fallen apart. This Autumn she stars as a rival pilot to Hilary Swank in the Biopic of pioneering American aviatrix Amelia Earhart, which is in cinemas now.

All this, however, pales in comparison to the plum role that she’ll be playing next year. We predict that Mia and Alice in Wonderland will have a huge impact on fashion houses around the world. Screen caps released so far show some beautiful costumes, designed by costume designer Colleen Atwood, who has worked with Tim Burton on both Sweeney Todd and Edward Scissorhands.
