The book is a collection of more than 600 images from magazines featuring Audrey Hepburn over the course of her life, many of which have never been published since. Accompanying the beautiful photos of Hepburn are biographical texts giving the reader an insight into her off screen life and how her image and status as a style icon evolved during the course of her time. It’s amazing how this little elflin beauty became a star; the 1950’s were her hay day, which was full of blonde bombshells like Marylin Munroe. But Audrey Hepburn could compete, bringing something new to the table and ended up having a huge impact on the notion of beauty and style.
The book is beautifully put together; each chapter covering a different era and featuring key moments for Hepburn. Starting with her childhood, moving onto her big break in Broadway production Gigi, through her life to the final chapter as Goodwill Ambasador for UNICEF. Along the way are the obvious highlights such as Roman Holiday, for which she one an Oscar for Best Actress, Sabrina and of course Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
