Crystal Renn – the new plus size model for Chanel

Grazia Daily reported this morning on Karl Lagerfeld’s use of plus sized model, Crystal Renn, for Chanel.
“So the news this morning is that Crystal Renn is totally unstoppable. Her rise to the top of the modelling tree has hit the premiere league as now a Chanel image has emerged featuring the plus size supermodel. The 24-year-old American is understandably thrilled, declaring; ‘I’m absolutely freaking out….working with Chanel has been my dream forever…. this campaign is the proudest moment of my life.’”
So, it looks as though Karl has done a U-turn on his anti-plus sized comments from last year, calling those who were against skinny models on the catwalk “fat mummies”.
Of course, not everyone is happy!!! Some still criticise Crystal for not being a true representative of plus sized women – she is a UK sized 14 – which is still smaller than the average UK woman, but as this photo shows, she is a fantastic, beautiful model and as long as she’s healthy who cares about her size! Surely, a model who is a healthly weight is better than a model who is grossly over or under weight? Being two stone over weight is just as unhealthy as being two stone underweight!

I wouldn’t call the woman in the picture plus size. She’s gorgeous though!
