Amanda Wakeley had lost her company in 1998 when, after her divorce, she was forced to sell the business. Since then the Amanda Wakeley label has endured countless different owners, with Wakeley staying on board as Creative Director.
Blame YSL and their caged heels. They sparked the penchant for what my friends and I like to call “S&M” chic; you’ve probably seen them all over the high street – “hooker” heels, which are at least 6 inches, platformed and covered in anything from studded straps to leopard print.
