It’s a shame that MTV decided to cancel Lauren Conrad’s new reality TV show, as the title sequence to the project shows promise – it is very sweet. The reality show was going to be based around Lauren’s life as a fashion designer and was due to be a little more serious and documentary like than LC’s previous projects with MTV – the Hills and Laguna Beach. David Janollari, EVP, Head of Programming for MTV was quoted as saying to EW “She did do a pilot. There were talks about whether we could somehow manage to put together a special based on that footage but that’s also a big question mark based on her interest in that and the finances. We love her! We would love her on our network!”

Sounds to me that Lauren’s show simply didn’t have the trashy potential that current MTV shows such as Jersey Shore and 16 & pregnant have.

In a press release, Jessica goes on to tell us what to expect from her new sportswear range: ‘Since entering the fashion industry, I’ve envisioned including a sportswear line in my lifestyle brand…this new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun.’

Vince Camuto, who owns the Jessica Simpson Collection brand master licence, told WWD that the secret to Jessica’s success is ‘She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her…People like her. People look at her as a style icon.’

I agree with Vince that people do like her; she is beautiful but non-threatening as she insists on portraying herself as a ditzy blonde. I don’t however agree that she is a style icon, I personally think her sister Ashlee is far more exciting in her style choices. Jessica is a weird mix – she plays it safe, yet often gets it wrong. I’m surprised so many people find her aspirational.

I am too excited by this; gorgeous Parisian fashion house, Lavin, has joined forces with high street giants H&M to bring an amazing, luxuriant collection to the masses. Well, maybe not entirely to the masses – it will only be available at selected H&M stores across the World – hitting the UK high street on the 23rd November 2010. All designed by Lavin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz.

You may be under the impression that the collection has a purely monochrome palette but you would be wrong! There are dresses in rich reds, pinks, canary yellows and brightly coloured floral patterns available and accessories galore, including vintagesque beaded jewellery and leopard print court shoes.

Out of all the other H&M collaborations (Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel, Jimmy Choo, Comme des Garcons and Viktor & Rolf) this one, in my opinion, has to be the best so far. I love the looks and it just feels like a cared for and well thought out collection.

Hot on the heels of this year’s Britain’s Next Top Model finale – where Tiffany Pisani was crowned the winner of Britain’s Next Top Model series 6 – an ultimate weekend shopping extravaganza comes to London for the first time ever. Britain’s Next Top Model Live – from the 22nd – 24th October 2010.

“It was a night of lace tights, skirts, and mother-daughter bonding for Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon, 13, as they celebrated the launch of their Material Girl clothing line Wednesday night at Macy’s Herald Square in N.Y.C. Despite being a fashion icon, Madonna was content to take a backseat when it came to choosing the items for the Material Girl girl. “Lola did most of the work. I just kind of hung out in the background and went, ‘That’s nice,’ but she pretty much did all of the work. I was just overseeing it,” she said. But when your mom is Madonna and you’re creating a fashion line for teenage girls, it isn’t always that simple. “There are some definite pieces [inspired by my mom]. The tulle skirt because that’s like her thing—she made that. The necklaces, the gloves, the lace tights, the combat boots…that tough girly thing,” Lourdes told PEOPLE. As for the items in Mom’s closet that she covets most? “All of her shoes are ridiculous! I love to try on her [Christian] Louboutins,” she said. Also on hand for the celebration was Material Girl face Taylor Momsen. “It was such an honor to be chosen by Madonna and Lola. They’re such talented people and I’m just ecstatic,” gushed the Gossip Girl star. The night concluded with the three ladies gathering on the fourth floor of Macy’s, as dancers performed and a DJ spun many of Madonna’s songs. “Lola has been so inspiring and it’s been so great to watch her focus, her determination.” Madonna said. “I’ve achieved many things in my life, but I have to say watching my daughter make her dreams come true and achieve her goals is more exciting than anything I’ve ever done.”

Ha ha, Madonna makes me laugh – Lourdes is “achieving her goals” because of who her mother is and her privileged background. I can’t think of any other 13 year old girls who have their own clothing line, except of course, for other celebrity spawn and child stars.
