I'm in love with this All Saints Aztec inspired mini-dress and if you think it looks familiar, maybe you saw the photos of Madonna's teenage daughter, Lourdes, wearing the exact same dress at the Vanity Fair Oscars party last month. Regardless of the fact that a 14 year old has been seen wearing the dress, I'm determined to make it mine.

Prints are a big Spring/Summer 2011 trend - whether bold and fruity at Stella McCartney or horizontally striped at Prada, there will be no getting from them this season. I for one adore prints and especially love clashing them. Floral and stripes are a particular favourite combination of mine.

This zebra print mustard shirt may not be floral, fruity or stripey but hey – throw an animal print on a vibrant coloured shirt, tie it at the waist and I’m a happy girl. This H by Henry Holland Zebra print, mustard shirt sounds a nightmare on paper but I absolutely love it. It would look so good with seventies inspired denim flares, open toed tanned platform heels and a wide brim floppy hat and is an absolute bargain at only £25 at Debenhams.

Ahh, the Christmas season is well and truly behind us. I'm taking down my rather sad Christmas tree this weekend - it's all droopy and crispy. I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, deciding to have a little break instead. The result being that I'm all refreshed and optimistic for the year ahead. Fashion never being too far away from my mind, I have been enjoying a fantastic book that my sister got me for Christmas - Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation. The book is the first to be penned after McQueen's tragic death last year and is full of gorgeous, breathtaking pictures...

Ahh, the Christmas season is well and truly behind us. I’m taking down my rather sad Christmas tree this weekend – it’s all droopy and crispy. I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks, deciding to have a little break instead. The result being that I’m all refreshed and optimistic for the year ahead. Fashion never being too far away from my mind, I have been enjoying a fantastic book that my sister got me for Christmas – Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation. The word Genius gets thrown around a lot but in Alexander Mcqueen’s case, it is well deserved. The book is the first to be penned after McQueen’s tragic death last year and is full of gorgeous, breathtaking pictures. The book’s author, Kristin Knox (a fashion journalist and blogger), goes on to describe McQueen’s childhood in East London to his unfinished Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. It is a beautiful book.

As well as expanding my mind, I’ve also been trawling the pages of lookbook.nu, which describes itself as a fashion collective. It is awesome. Gorgeous girls and boys from all over the world, post looks of themselves in their favourite fashion ensembles. It is one of the better street style blogs out there. Some of the individuals who post are extremely style savvy and it’s where I feel the most wardrobe envy. My favourite postie to date is Olivia H, a self proclaimed bad role model from Manchester. She rocks.

I definitely need to up my game

Another year, another Christmas party season to get ready for! This happens to be my favourite time of year just because of the sheer volume of fabulous dresses available to buy – regular readers on this blog will know I have a thing for dresses (some girls like shoes, others bags, I have a wardrobe crammed full of dresses). The choice of Christmas party dresses on the high street gets better and better every year. These are a few of my favourites, which may provide you with a little inspiration...

These are a few of my favourites, which may provide you with a little inspiration.

Black may seem like the safe choice but this season think rich fabrics like velvet and lace or interesting details such as ruffled hems, bows or feathers. Black power dressing was everywhere at the Autumn/Winter 2010 shows (seen at Matthew Williamson, Gucci and Lavin). Natalie Portman shows just how much impact a little black dress can have at her recent Black Swan Première, in Lavin for H&M. She chose to wear minimal accessories and a dramatic coral lip and looked simply stunning.

At the other end of the scale, block red dresses are bang on trend this season. Block red is a dramatic colour choice which will make you stand out from the rest of the fashion pack. Carey Mulligan is a brilliant example of how to wear this look, she looked both adorable and super sexy in block red at the recent Moet British Film awards.

Vintage inspired dresses from the 30s & 40s are also on trend this winter in glistening champagne or gold. Florence Welch shows us just how it’s done in this gorgeous gold beaded, vintage inspired gown at the MTV music awards.

For 2010 the trend for all things sparkly continues. Think a sea of sequins, dazzling all those in your wake. Keep accessories and make up minimal while looking slinky and glamorous. Twilight actress Christian Serratos looked gorgeous in sequins at this years Teen Vogue Party.

For me, wedding fever is in the air, what with the impending Royal nuptials dominating world wide news and many of my friends tying the knot at the end of the year, there’s no getting away from it. Which poses the inevitable question of “what to wear”? Winter wedding fashion offers more of a challenge than a summer wedding outfit but just go into it thinking of yourself as a glamorous layered cake, where each reveal offers something new and breathtaking.

Starting with a cover up – fur was everywhere on the Autumn/Winter 2010 shows, I personally prefer faux as was seen at Chanel but each to their own! A chic fur stole or cover up will add drama, glamour and most importantly warmth to a winter wedding look. Next, a longer, floor skimming length dress will again offer warmth and hide thick tights worn underneath! Velvet maxi dresses are very on trend at the moment and look beautiful but there are plenty of other luxe winter fabrics around in rich colours or metallics.

If you do prefer mid-length or calf skimming style dresses then there are plenty of gorgeous lace, patterned tights around to modernise the look and up the glamour stakes. To keep off the winter chill, a pair of long leather gloves are a good option – very Mad Men!

Winter is also an excuse to up-the-anti on sparkle and shimmer, either with sequinned embellishment on your dress or adding dramatic jewellery – don’t worry about up staging the bride because you can get away with more sparkle when the winter nights are getting longer! To carry around your absolute essentials, the bag of choice this season is a cute little box clutch.

Boots are an excellent way to bring your winter wedding look bang up to date, toughening up a pretty look – and again, are practical in the colder weather. However, mother-of-the-brides may feel more elegant and comfortable in the plethora of lady like kitten heels and sling backs which have made a come back this season. They are much daintier and easier to wear than the towering high heels and platforms seen in previous seasons.

Whatever you do chose to wear though, don’t be afraid to dazzle!

I am too excited by this; gorgeous Parisian fashion house, Lavin, has joined forces with high street giants H&M to bring an amazing, luxuriant collection to the masses. Well, maybe not entirely to the masses - it will only be available at selected H&M stores across the World - hitting the UK high street on the 23rd November 2010. All designed by Lavin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz.

You may be under the impression that the collection has a purely monochrome palette but you would be wrong! There are dresses in rich reds, pinks, canary yellows and brightly coloured floral patterns available and accessories galore, including vintagesque beaded jewellery and leopard print court shoes.

You can see the full collection in the following youtube clip:

Out of all the other H&M collaborations (Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel, Jimmy Choo, Comme des Garcons and Viktor & Rolf) this one, in my opinion, has to be the best so far. I love the looks and it just feels like a cared for and well thought out collection.

No wonder I can't find this dress in my size anywhere - I caught sight of this gorgeous Miss Selfridge sliver foil maxi dress last week in my local House of Fraser but it was only available in a size 6 (I haven't been a size 6 since I was 11!) - even my friend who was out shopping with me at the time had spotted it and said she knew I would love it...

A Winter coat is not just something to keep you warm when the chill sets in but also a statement piece that can update and modernise a lacklustre winter wardrobe. The key Winter Coat trends for 2010 include Military Coats, Fur Coats, Capes and Aviator jackets.

Military coats are a winter staple, mainly because the style has such a flattering silhouette. This seasons styles are sleeker and paired down in comparison to previous seasons; last year military coats were waist length but longer versions were seen on the 2010 Autumn/Winter shows in gorgeous Olive and Navy.

Fur was everywhere at the Autumn/Winter 2010 shows, personally I prefer faux fur, as was seen head-to-toe on the Chanel models. Faux Fur coats ranged from mid-length to long and shaggy, very rock and roll.

The Cape always manages to look ultra sophisticated despite being, in essence, the equivalent of going outside with a blanket wrapped round you. That’s probably part of the Cape’s appeal – super chic yet super comfy. This season, Capes ranged from cropped, seen at YSL, to mid-calf length, seen at Alexander Wang. Capes are perfect with chunky knits as they skim beautifully over the top of them – wear with tailored trousers and wedges.

The Aviator jacket is a hard working jacket, looking fab in leather and making a welcome alternative to the biker jacket. They also look fantastic in shearling – one of the biggest Autumn/Winter 2010 trends. The Aviator jacket toughens up pretty dresses and looks great with a maxi winter dress.

This season there are some killer winter coats available on the high street:

Last night, Madonna, daughter Lourdes and Taylor Momsen all got together for the New York Macy’s launch of Madonna’s “Material Girl” line. The tween line is being modelled by Taylor, who looked as moody and angsty as ever, wearing her trade mark skanky panda eye look.

“It was a night of lace tights, skirts, and mother-daughter bonding for Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon, 13, as they celebrated the launch of their Material Girl clothing line Wednesday night at Macy’s Herald Square in N.Y.C. Despite being a fashion icon, Madonna was content to take a backseat when it came to choosing the items for the Material Girl girl. “Lola did most of the work. I just kind of hung out in the background and went, ‘That’s nice,’ but she pretty much did all of the work. I was just overseeing it,” she said. But when your mom is Madonna and you’re creating a fashion line for teenage girls, it isn’t always that simple. “There are some definite pieces [inspired by my mom]. The tulle skirt because that’s like her thing—she made that. The necklaces, the gloves, the lace tights, the combat boots…that tough girly thing,” Lourdes told PEOPLE. As for the items in Mom’s closet that she covets most? “All of her shoes are ridiculous! I love to try on her [Christian] Louboutins,” she said. Also on hand for the celebration was Material Girl face Taylor Momsen. “It was such an honor to be chosen by Madonna and Lola. They’re such talented people and I’m just ecstatic,” gushed the Gossip Girl star. The night concluded with the three ladies gathering on the fourth floor of Macy’s, as dancers performed and a DJ spun many of Madonna’s songs. “Lola has been so inspiring and it’s been so great to watch her focus, her determination.” Madonna said. “I’ve achieved many things in my life, but I have to say watching my daughter make her dreams come true and achieve her goals is more exciting than anything I’ve ever done.”

Ha ha, Madonna makes me laugh – Lourdes is “achieving her goals” because of who her mother is and her privileged background. I can’t think of any other 13 year old girls who have their own clothing line, except of course, for other celebrity spawn and child stars.
