So imagine my elation at seeing the return of the snood on the catwalks this Autumn, featuring in fashion shows from Missoni to Burberry. They’re likely to be a big trend, not only because these designers are forcing them down our necks, but because they’re easy-to-wear and extremely practical – short of wearing a balaclava, how else would you keep your head quite so warm?

Wear the snood day or night, as it works equally well with an evening dress as it does with casual clothing. Just keep the colour toned down. This sequinned snood from Wallis is gorgeous and perfect for embracing your inner Grace Jones.

The cotton canvas tote bag has an overdyed check pattern – distinctly Burberry – complete with belted leather trim and a polished metallic barbed wire chain around top adding more of a rock edge! The two rolled leather handles are attached to branded, shiny metallic buckle attachments and has a leather base with five feet. Emma Watson and Robert Pattinson?

Emma Watson and Burberry are a sensible pairing. Burberry’s Creative Director, Christopher Bailey describes Emma as “the obvious choice for this campaign, who, like the images she fronts, has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge. Emma’s charm, intellect and brilliant sense of fun made the whole shoot feel like a picnic on the Thames.” It’s a shame really, that this “sense of fun” hasn’t really translated on film. Emma looks a little bored in these shots.

Mario Testino shot this campaign and Emma does look lovely (if a little blank) but personally, it’s all a bit safe for my liking. I do however, love the new line – that brown leather trench is amazing.
